Leadership Skills 

Duration: 1, 3, or 5 days (or  bespoke programmes)

Groups: Uni or multi-professional individuals or teams

Suitable for: Anyone already in or contemplating a leadership role including managers & clinicians

Details: We offer both 'introductory' and 'advanced' leadership training workshops which help participants make sense of leading systemically in complex situations. The workshops offer a mix of conceptual frameworks to help leaders organise their thinking & develop their skills. We will attend to the challenges of leading coherently in a pressured, unpredictable and often chaotic environment and offer opportunities to evaluate leadership purpose, identity & relationships through a systemic lens. We will also attend to values-led leadership  and invite participants to work on the complex  issues of power and culture within a dynamic system.

Coaching Skills 

Duration: 1, 2, or 3 days (+ bespoke programmes if required)

Groups: Uni or multi-professional individuals or teams

Suitable for: Anyone wanting to learn more about coaching conversations or develop their skills in coaching others 

Details: The coaching workshops will help participants develop their understanding of what a coaching approach is (and how it differs from other approaches) & when coaching may be useful. We will offer practical frameworks & opportunities for skills practice. Participants will also experience being coached and anyone interested in becoming a coach will be offered guidance.  Programmes are also suit teams or organisations wishing to adopt & embed a coaching approach.

Supervision Skills 

Duration: 1, 2, or 3 days 

Groups: Uni or multi-professional individuals or teams

Suitable for: Anyone in or about to start as a supervisor in a clinical or managerial/administrative capacity. 

Details:  The Supervision workshops will help participants develop their understanding of what supervision means, the different contexts in which supervision may be useful & offer the opportunity to develop their skills in supervision. We will explore the tension between being supportive and giving advice/being directive when needed and also how to approach difficult supervisor-supervisee relationships. The workshops are experiential and there will be lots of opportunity for participants to practice supervising others and also to be supported with a current difficulty or dilemma they face.

Mentoring Skills 

Duration: 1 or 2 days

Groups: Uni or multi-professional individuals or teams

Suitable for: Anyone about to start in a mentoring role or interested in developing their skills as a mentor

Details:  The Mentoring workshops will help participants develop their understanding of what mentoring involves and how it may differ from other professional conversations. We will cover issues around boundary setting and informal 'contracting' for a mentoring relationship as well as how to approach challenging mentoring conversations. The workshops are experiential and there will be lots of opportunity for participants to practice mentoring conversations with feedback and experience being mentored.

Training the Trainer 

Duration: 2, 3 & 5 (+ bespoke programmes as required)

Groups: Uni or multi-professional individuals or teams

Suitable for: Anyone in role which requires them to teach or train individuals or small groups

Details:  The 'Trainer the Trainer' workshops cover principles & approaches to learning and teaching in a professional context. We will also cover approaches to giving developmental & challenging feedback, useful questioning skills,  assessing learning needs, helping learners develop their insight & ability to reflect and the principles of assessing competency & capability.

Coherent Decision Making

Duration: Half or 1 day

Groups: Uni or multi-professional 

Suitable for: Individuals or teams who struggle with making decisions effectively

Details:  This workshop will introduce participants to approaches and frameworks for making better-structured, more coherent and ultimately more effective decisions either on their own or as part of a group. There will be practical opportunities to develop skills

Motivating self & others

Duration: Half or 1 day

Groups: Uni or multi-professional individuals or teams

Suitable for: Anyone who struggles to keep motivated or to motivate others in a professional capacity, including motivating teams.

Details:  In this workshop we explore the principles of human motivation and identify common barriers to taking action. The session will offer opportunities to apply the concepts to a real/current challenge and identify strategies for breaking stuck patterns.

Assertiveness

Duration: Half or 1 day

Groups: Uni or multi-professional 

Suitable for: Individuals who would like to develop their confidence in making requests and being assertive at work

Details:  This workshop will explore common barriers to acting assertively in a work context and equip participants with some practical approaches to use if they want to 'speak up & be heard'. We will cover common areas such as making boundaries explicit,  saying 'no' confidently & making requests effectively. There will be opportunity to practice these skills in a safe & supportive environment

Unconscious Bias

Duration: Half or 1 day

Groups: Uni or multi-professional 

Suitable for: Individuals or teams who would like develop their awareness of bias & take action to reduce the chance & impact unconscious biases in a work context.

Details:  In this interactive and practical workshop we create a safe & non-judgemental space where participants can deepen their understanding of bias, consider the impact of unconscious bias and focus on strategies to reduce unconscious bias & its effects in the workplace. 

Navigating Change

Duration: 1 day

Groups: Uni or multi-professional 

Suitable for: For anyone who is tasked with planning & leading a team through change

Details:  This practical workshop focuses on the principles & approaches to facilitating change in a team/organisational context. We will look at common barriers to sustained change & offer strategies to help a team take ownership of the proposed change. Participants will also have an opportunity to practice more effective communication approaches in relation to change.

Harnessing Uncertainty

Duration: Half or 1 day

Groups: Uni or multi-professional 

Suitable for: Anyone working in an unpredictable system who finds uncertainty difficult or stressful

Details:  This workshop will explore notions of risk, help participants develop strategies to sit more comfortably with uncertainty and to harness the benefits which uncertainty can provide 

Narrative Practice

Duration: 1, 2 or 3 days

Groups: Uni or multi-professional 

Suitable for: Anyone interested in learning about & using narrative approaches in their practice 

Details:  This workshop will introduce participants to the benefits of attending to individual or group narratives in a professional context & help them develop their skills in using a narrative approach in their work. Participants will learn to tune into their curiosity and adopt a neutral stance to questioning. There will be many opportunities to practice narrative skills and receive feedback.

Medical Assistant Development

Duration: 9 days over 4-6 months blended learning

Groups: Uni-professional

Suitable for: Administrators & receptionists wishing to develop their skills & capability in a Primary Care setting

Details: This course will equip administrators in Primary Care with a greater understanding of how Primary Care function & help them develop more transferrable and flexible skills as Medical Assistants within the context of an ever-changing and high pressured NHS. The course will follow a formal curriculum as set out by Health Education England covering aspects of knowledge, skills & behaviour required in a Medical Assistant role.

Negotiating Effectively

Duration:  Half or 1 day

Groups: Uni or multi-professional

Suitable for: Anyone interested in developing their skills in negotiating

Details:  In this workshop we cover different approaches to negotiating as well as common pitfalls and offer a practical framework to help participants engage in more productive negotiations. There will be an opportunity to plan a real negotiation and also practice skills during a negotiation.

Managing Conflict

Duration: Half or 1 day

Groups: Uni or multi-professional

Suitable for: Anyone involved in a conflict situation at work or interested in developing more useful skills in resolving conflict

Details:  In this workshop we help participants make sense of (individual and team) conflict patterns in a work context & consider productive approaches to conflict. We also offer a structured approach to analysing escalating tensions & identifying when mismatch of communication occurs. We explore how to engage in more useful communication strategies and help participants develop confident, non-confrontational and productive approaches in conflict situations.
